Project Overview

Bridge is multi span PSC box girder bridge with four spans of 55m each spanning Manawar Tawi. All the foundations are well. Considerable amount of resources were required for sinking of well as the strata was mostly composed of clay mixed with sand which doesn't give easily to well sinking due to high cohesivity. Expert well sinkers were employed for clearance of boulders under water as dewatering the well was not possible because of high porosity of surrounding strata.

Strategic Significance

Location of bridge was strategic as sensitive army installations were planned to be serviced using the bridge. International border with Pakistan was less than 1 Km from the bridge. Other than Indian Army, there was a village Manawar, across the bridge which did not have a permanent connection with mainland. Bridge was a boon for local villages as they were able to move freely to meet their loved ones. Believe us when we say that people wouldn't marry their daughters in Manawar because of accessibility issues.

Battal bridge is a bridge in its purest sense as it bridges the divide between communities. Definitely, a proud moment for us.
