Bakcha Khola Bridge

Project Overview

Bridge is located on Bakcha tributary of Teesta on Gangtok Chungthang road. Bridge consists of two piers on well foundation and abutments on open foundation. Superstructure is balanced on piers resulting in a central span of 60m and side spans of 30m.

Construction

Piers have deep well foundations owing to considerable scouring condition in the river bed. It was a very challenging project owing to deep well foundations and also considerable height over ground. Superstructure was constructed using form travelers casting segments of 3m at a time.
