Dikchu, Sikkim
Bridge is located on Chungthang Gangtok Road over Dikchu River just before confluence with River Teesta. It is a beautiful Cantilever Bridge with a single span of 110 m.
The cantilever beams rest on the abutment over bearings. There are also bearings at the interface of deck and portal beam which resists toppling tendency of the superstructure. Both the bearings are in compression. Portal beams are prestressed for carrying considerable moment exerted from uplifting superstructure. Both the cantilever arms are further stitched in the middle using continuous HTS cables thereby making the bridge a simply supported structure after construction stage.
Bridge is a beautiful landmark on way to Gangtok and a must stop owing to serene views of confluence.
