Rupa, Arunachal Pradesh
Gacham Bridge is a three-span PSC box girder bridge located at Rupa in Arunachal Pradesh. The three spans of 55 m each give a total length of 165 m. The site is in a remote part of the state, with construction logistics shaped by the limited road access and the steep terrain typical of this region.
All four foundations — two abutments and two piers — are well type. Wells were sunk through the river bed to reach competent strata, providing the depth and stability required for the equal-span continuous superstructure.
The superstructure is a PSC box girder running across all three 55 m spans. The hollow box cross-section is well suited to this span length and gives the durability needed for an all-weather highway crossing in the high-rainfall environment of Arunachal Pradesh.
