Arunachal Pradesh
Pinjoli Bridge is a three-span cantilever bridge located in Arunachal Pradesh. The span arrangement of 33.75 + 67.5 + 33.75 m gives a total length of 135 m, with the 67.5 m central span flanked by two 33.75 m end spans. Two piers between the spans support the cantilever superstructure, with abutments at either end.
Both piers are founded on wells sunk through the river bed to reach competent strata. The abutments are on open foundation, the rock conditions at each bank being suitable for shallow founding.
The bridge was constructed using the cantilever method. Form travellers were deployed from each pier and advanced outwards segment by segment, casting the cantilever arms progressively until the half-arms were stitched together at mid-span and at the ends.
