Tuting, Upper Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh
The Tuting Bridge is a 260 metre single-span network arch across the Siang River near the existing Kodak Bridge at Tuting in Upper Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh. The work has been awarded to Poddar Infratech by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
Tuting is one of the remotest settlements in Arunachal Pradesh, close to the McMahon Line. The bridge is part of the strategic road network being upgraded by NHIDCL in the Upper Siang sector.
The Siang at Tuting is one of the wide stretches of the river before it becomes the Brahmaputra in Assam. A single 260 metre network arch is at the upper end of what the type can do; it keeps every pier outside the river bed, which is the only safe answer for a river that swells dramatically through the summer monsoon.
The contract has just been awarded. Site mobilisation is beginning. This page will be updated as substructure work progresses.
