Near Hunli, Arunachal Pradesh
Hunli Bridge is a three-span steel truss bridge located near Hunli in Arunachal Pradesh, with a span arrangement of 42 + 75 + 42 m and a total length of 159 m. The 75 m central span is flanked by two 42 m end spans, with two piers between the spans and abutments at either end.
Both abutments are on open foundation, taking advantage of the rock conditions at each bank. The two piers between the spans are on pile foundation, suited to the bed conditions and the depth required at mid-channel.
All three spans use a steel truss superstructure. Steel truss was the practical choice for the 75 m central span given the terrain, and using the same form for the 42 m end spans keeps the superstructure consistent across the full crossing.
The bridge is in one of the more remote parts of Arunachal Pradesh, and the work was carried out in a rainforest climate — high rainfall and persistent humidity through much of the year. Materials transport, fabrication sequencing, and weather windows for outdoor erection all shape how the project is executed at this site.
